Thayir Sadham - South Indian's life line

During the week day last week, I took a break to recover from my migraine headache. As part of the recovery process, I underwent a complete Thayir Sadham therapy. So I want to dedicate this post to the eternal item of every South Indian food menu.

This link from wikipedia suggests various pointers about Thayir Sadham. However I feel the best one is to prepare the sadham with the best of the curd and eat it with some of the famous pickles made in Tamil Nadu.

Eventhough the term "Thayir Sadham" refer to a person who is not active or dumb, it certainly occupies a space in the gourmet side of the South Indian heart.

What would be a better time other than a scorching summer to relish a thayir sadham with cold curd and pickles !!!!

Experiencing the inevitable

The week began with a shock that I have never experienced before. Myself and my family met with an accident in the notorious Hosur Road in Bangalore. Eventhough the car fell, we escaped with less impact. The incident shook us big time and it allowed us to question about the certainity in life (ever debated topic). Such experiences always open up lots of questions around faith, the inevitable end etc.

For now we are back at normal life.

PS:
For those who would like to get more insight in to the notoriety of the hosur road, read it here

Visit to City of Joy!!!

My professional work has brought me to Kolkata for 4 days. As I have heard a lot about the city being the breeding ground for intellectuals & still experiencing the communist form of government, I was curious & excited about this visit. Eventhough it rained on Sunday, incrasing the humidity, the weather got better on Sunday. I had visited the Oxford book store in Park Street. In contrary to Bangalore, I had found lot of English classics in this store which reflects the readers choice. Also I had visited the Ramakrishna Math at Belur & Dakshineshwar temple. I had really enjoyed the Ferry ride on Ganges from Belur to Dakshineshwar. The breadth of the river bed and the volume of the water were treat for my eyes.

Eventhough the main parts of Kolkata with colonial past has been maintained properly, the living condition in the outskirts of the city demonstrates a gap in the development. It would be wise for the city administration to replace or maintain the buses properly.

My friends have asked me to visit College street to check out the books!! I hope I will draw some time out of my schedule for this purpose.

Insane!!!!!!

News: Loksabha to discuss Ganguly's dismissal!!

What's the need to table a discussion in Loksabha about Ganguly's removal??? Cricket may be a religion in our country. But it doesn't warrant a discussion in lok sabha. This shows the unncessary interference of politics in sports, which has degenerated the growth of sports in this country. Instead of tabling the discussion on an individual person, the loksabha should discuss about the measures to improve the sporting infrastructure and other policies which will help Indian sportsmen to compete in world arena.

We need to have more debates in enacting Whistleblower act for fighting corruption, improving infrastructure rather than encouraging discussions which only deserves the front pages of sensitive journalism!!!
